WordPress security in Modesto

What is actually happening

Most small sites do not get singled out. They get found by a bot. Automated scanners run day and night across the whole web looking for one plugin nobody updated, one exposed file, one login left wide open. When they find it, the site is defaced, filled with spam links, or quietly used to attack the next site. The owner usually finds out when Google flags the page or the host pulls it down.

WordPress powers a huge share of small business sites, which is exactly why the scanners aim at it. It is not that WordPress is bad. It is that a stack of plugins from different authors, each one a door, is a lot to keep locked. If you are not patching it every week, something drifts open.

Two ways to fix it

Which one is right depends on what your site does. If it takes orders, runs a store, or updates on its own, you keep WordPress and you harden it. If it is a brochure that tells people what you do and how to reach you, you probably do not need WordPress at all, and moving off it removes the whole problem.

1. Harden the WordPress site you have

I check the live site the way an attacker would, fix what is open, and keep an eye on it after. Plain fixes, not a scary PDF.

The audit is a live-site scan for known holes and exposed files, core files checked against the originals, and a plain-language report ranked by what matters, with an exact fix for every finding. Hardening applies those fixes: updates, two-factor login, a firewall, locked-down file permissions, and off-site backups set up and tested, plus thirty days of monitoring after. Already hacked? Cleanup finds and removes the malware, closes how they got in, and clears the Google Safe Browsing flag. Full penetration testing is quoted separately, and only on sites you own or authorize in writing. Every security tool and license stays in your name.

2. Move off WordPress to a static site

A static site is just the finished pages, served straight to the visitor. No database, no plugins, no login screen, nothing running in the background for a scanner to pry at. That is not a promise that nothing can ever go wrong. It is a smaller site with far less to go wrong, and it happens to load faster and cost less to host.

I rebuild your existing pages as a fast static site, keep your look and your content, point your domain at it, and hand over every login. Right for a brochure site: the trades, salons, clinics and shops that use a website to be found and reached, not to sell online. If your site is a store, a busy blog, or anything that updates on its own, stay on WordPress and harden it instead. I will tell you straight which one you are.
